The Mission
The International Association of Geotourism is the Association representing individuals, societies, organizations and legal persons interesting, carrying business, education, training and research work in geotourism.
The aim of the Association is to facilitate information exchange, business, research and teaching partnership and other collaborative activities among its members. The Association integrates the tourism with the Earth and environmental sciences, promotes the universal beauty of abiotic nature, mining heritage sites as touristic attractions and interdisciplinary scientific research.
The Association will also promote business activity in geotourism and will grant scholarships for students and scientists active in the field of nature and mining heritage promotion and protection.
The Association will organize competitions for the best-developed geotouristic and mining heritage sites and projects.
The Association will support (also financially) the initiatives and non-government organizations supporting geotourism expansion.
The Association will organize conferences, symposiums, workshops and professional trainings and will run databases related thematically to the abiotic nature and mining heritage sites.
The Structure of the IAGt
The Association will work under following structure:
The Board of the Association – composed of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and one member without specification.
The net of national Associations’ Bureaus – created on the base of national interests in co-operation with the IAGt. Associations’ Bureau will include composed the Head (local commissary) of the Bureau, secretary and other members who would cover local plans and interests of the Bureau in a field of geotourism.
