Preparation of the first World Congress of Geotourism 2010

/21.08.08/ The IAGt Association intention is to organize the first World Congress of Geoturism. The arrangement of such an event requires a greater number of co-organizers who are planned to be recruited as early as in 2008y.The Association will provide the first piece of information on the preparation setup at the international conference Geotour’ 2009 in the High Tatras, Slovakia, held in autumn 2009. It will also be possible to enroll in the organization of the First World Congress of Geotourism through the e-mail addresses that will available on the IAGt website in December 2008, with the anticipation of the incoming topical propositions from the side of professional and non-professional public. In case of the Tender´08 success, we may go on to the Tender´09 announcement, presenting again the results of the First Congress of Geotourism.The first circular will be distributed in May 2009.

The first World Congress of Geotourism will be held in the area of the High Tatras at Zakopane – Poland and in the Slovakian alpine centers. The trips taken after the conference will be thematically oriented: one of them will be devoted to the sightseening of Krakow and salt mine Wieliczka, the other will be dedicated to sightseeing caves of the Slovakian karst, listed in the UNESCO cultural inheritance. The third trip will be taken in order to follow the footsteps of the historic mining in the region of East Slovakia and Hungary, the fourth excursion will be taking place in the Slovak aquaparks of the towns of Poprad, Liptovsky Mikulas and Besenova and the fifth trip will be taken to world known Slovak and Hungary Tokay wine-cellars. If required, it will be possible to organize a topical trip around the mining and geological campuses located in Krakow (Poland), Košice (Slovakia) and Miskolc (Hungary).

The deadline for the submitted works in the contest is set for June 1st, 2009.
